29 Oct Russia Reveals 2018 FIFA World Cup Emblem
The official emblem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup was revealed on Tuesday night to much anticipation from Russian fans and fans all around the world. Russian comedian Ivan Urgant presented the emblem along side FIFA President Sepp Blatter and Italian football legend Fabio Cannavaro during his late-night talk show the Evening Urgent in Moscow.
The new logo blends the cultural characteristics of Russia, with a unique illustration of the World Cup trophy, similar to the 2014 logo.
Russian Cosmonauts on board the International Space Station presented the initial unveiling of the logo. The cosmonauts talked about how excited they are that Russia was chosen as the host nation for the 2018 tournament.
The logo is said to ‘reflect the heart and soul’ of Russia, while including the cultural and artistic traditions the country is recognized for.
The logo, however, got some interesting reactions on the Internet, as to be expected. The logo quickly went viral, and fans have been using their imaginations to inspire a slew of parodies from famous paintings to Finding Nemo.
