AC&M Spotlight: International Internship Recap

Manuel Daza is an International Social Media Trainee at AC&M.He began his journey at AC&M a year ago coming from Bogota, Colombia where he is specializing in Systems and Computer Engineering.

Throughout his internship, he focused on managing client social media accounts and creating original content for client blogs in English and Spanish for clients, such as Soccer.Com, NBC Universo and Tienda Futbol Mundial. Manuel was very quiet but combined his passion for soccer and his work ethic to bring a fresh perspective to AC&M, which can be seen through his client projects and AC&M blog Soccer Insights.

As his international internship comes to an end, here is what Manuel had to say  …

Internship Recap

( Pictures highlight: Manuel testing out the new AC&M Polos, attending his first Panther’s Football game, Halloween party, AC&M Holiday party and the famous work space: Maracanã with friends.)

What has been one of the biggest lessons you have learned at AC&M?

“ One of the biggest takeaways from this job has been learning to manage and prioritize my time. While in school you tend to work on projects and assignments at your own time. If it is due at 12 and I start at 10 that is on me. However, when you are working with clients it is shared time so you have to make sure to make the most of it. That has been the biggest takeaway from working at AC&M and working on all these great projects.”

How have you grown in the time you have been here?

“Professionally one of the many things I have learned has been not only how to manage accounts but brand identity.Since I have had the opportunity to work on a couple of different accounts, I have learned to adapt my brand voice for each client, each with its own personality.

When I first began at AC&M, I told the team that I wanted to touch on some design during my time here and I was able to learn a few tricks from our impressive creative department.

I guarantee this internship and the skills I have learned will help set me apart in the future.”

What have been your favorite projects?

“As an avid soccer fan, the work AC&M gets to do with clients is incredible. If I had to choose one project,  I would have to say writing the blogs. As I said, I love fútbol and being able to write about fútbol is even better.”

What has been the best thing about being at AC&M?

The People. Everyone here is amazing. It is almost like being part of a family. As we say in Colombia- todos son super chéveres. We all get along great and we have had the opportunity to do things not only outside of the office (my first panther’s game) but also internally as well  (Copa América watch parties, Halloween, etc)

“It is truly inspiring to work and interact with people that encourage and inspire you daily from the leadership to my peers.”

What’s next for Manuel?

“Once I finish school I would love to come back to the U.S. For this internship, I decided to just take the risk and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Final Thoughts?

“I just simply like to thank everyone. A big thank you for the opportunity to come from Colombia and continue to learn and grow. I have made good friends here and AC&M will always be a special place for me.”
