Combate Americas’: Fighting it’s Way to the Top with MMA & Soccer

We helped Combate Americas LLC to promote two key Hispanic passion points: MMA and Soccer.

Overview

Combate Americas, LLC is the first U.S. Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports franchise in history. This year, they launched a new initiative called Combate Clásico. The MMA-style event resembling the soccer World Cup, in which each fighter represents their native country. The unique setup of this fight made it a clear opportunity for Combate Americas to partner with International Champions Cup (ICC) and attract a larger audience.

To leverage the partnership, we created a microsite and sweepstakes that offered winners a trip to attend the CombateClásico fight as well as ICC’s Barcelona vs Real Madrid and PSG vs Juventus soccer games in Miami. To promote the microsite and its sweepstakes, influencers were provided content and graphics catered to their fan base to post on social media. A paid social media campaign was also implemented to optimize registrations, which included posts on Instagram and Facebook.

Through the interactive microsite, users were able to conveniently register for the unique sweepstakes opportunity as well as learn more about the fight, including fighter statistics, the countries being represented, and promotional videos.

Social Media & Influencer Relations

As part of the promotion, a paid social media campaign was used by creating ads for Facebook and Instagram. Throughout the campaign and as part of the optimization process, multiple target audiences were tested among soccer fans and MMA fans. Along with the paid social media campaign, Combate Americas’ influencers were provided with social media content tailored to their specific audience. Each influencer’s content was strategically prepared in Spanish, English, or both depending on their posting styles and audience.

The campaign exceeded the projections for registration and reach, delivering a low cost per registration and a high amount of engagement.
