QUEST Takes Flight

A state-of-the-art environmental education center begins construction.

QUEST Groundbreaking

It isn’t everyday that our team gets to partake in a groundbreaking ceremony and help unveil the branding for a new destination in Charlotte.

We were so honored to be on-site at the official groundbreaking ceremony for QUEST – a collaborative effort between our client Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation for the development of a new state-of-the-art environmental education center in Huntersville, NC.

“QUEST will be like no other destination in our area,” said Jim Warren, Carolina Raptor Center Executive Director. “QUEST will offer visitors a gateway to the natural beauty of North Carolina and limitless adventures to learn, play and explore.”

We’ve been working with CRC for months, helping create a brand identity for QUEST and will continue to team up with them through the grand opening and beyond.

“Since day one, our team was pumped to work on this project. Having the opportunity to brand a future landmark of our community is a big deal for us. I think our team did a great job, and in the end we delivered something that we are proud of, and most importantly — our client loved. We think the community will also embrace the logo as it represents the essence of QUEST,” said Manolo Guajardo, Creative Director, AC&M Group.

New Adventures at QUEST

This once-in-a-generation project promises to reach across a wide spectrum of audiences for expanded conservation efforts, increased access to education programming and an estimated $3.88 million per year economic impact. Latta Nature Preserve is one of the most visited sites in Mecklenburg County with almost 375,000 visitors a year through the front gate.

The project includes the design and construction of a county-owned modern, 13,000+ square-foot center with amazing amenities, including an interactive exhibit hall focusing on Mountain Island Lake and Latta Nature Preserve; a huge aquarium showcasing native fish; expanded indoor/outdoor learning spaces to offer more year-round environmental education programming; access to hiking trails, fishing, paddle-sports, Segway tours and more, and a new raptor trail system to include a modern resident bird care facility and exhibit, aviaries for more than 35 species of raptors and a technologically advanced amphitheater.
