02 Apr Second Installment of AC&M’s “Soccer Talks” A Big Success
Last month, AC&M held the second installment of Soccer Talks, our marketing networking forum, with a focus on discussing how soccer can help brands win big with their marketing efforts in 2015.
More than fifty people from across Charlotte’s business and soccer communities joined us as a panel of marketing and soccer experts discussed how soccer is used to increase a company’s bottom line. Panelists included Royce Wolfe, VP of Experiential Marketing and Sponsorship Strategy, Wells Fargo; Edgar Saucedo, Executive Vice President, Norsan Media; and Jim McPhilliamy, President, Charlotte Independence.
Wolfe spoke to how Wells Fargo uses soccer sponsorships as a touch point to reach consumers, while Saucedo revealed marketing tactics as it relates to Hispanics, drawing off his expertise in broadcast media and cultural competency. McPhilliamy rounded out the panel discussion by discussing the challenges of establishing a soccer team in the Queen City, as well as his aspirations for the Charlotte Independence’s future. AC&M’s own Kyle Toscano (and all around soccer guru) facilitated the Q&A session in which representatives from KYCK and ISL Futbol, the official U.S. partner of FC Barcelona, contributed insights.
Using our soccer expertise to connect the Charlotte community with expert panelists helped us achieve our goal of creating a forum that provides insights on soccer as an essential business and marketing tool. With two Soccer Talks events under our belt, we are excited to foster a strong soccer and business community and continue to grow soccer’s prominence in Charlotte.
Stay tuned for our next Soccer Talks event in September where we’ll summarize how companies capitalized off tournaments like the FIFA Women’s World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, and Copa America.
An official announcement of speakers and themes will be available in August, so be sure to check back or sign up for our newsletter to stay up-to-date.
